A downtown mixed-use project is being planned for a 3.5 ac site at the southwest corner of Cesar Chavez and Red River Streets, along Waller Creek, in the new Waterfront District of downtown Austin.

The $350 million, 1 million SF 21c Austin Museum Hotel and Residences project will consist of a 16-story, 243 guest-room hotel tower; a 49-story, 295 unit residential tower; a world-class contemporary art museum; and, in the future, a 425,000 SF office and retail tower (which may include more residential). Additionally, of the 295 residential units, 12 "artist lofts" will be made available at favorable rental rates for living and studio space.

Plans also call for a restaurant with a menu to be created by famed restaurateur Michael Bonadies, former founder & CEO of Myriad Restarant Group which owns and operates Tribeca Grill, Nobu and Rubicon in NYC. He is currently CEO of ACE Unlimited, LLC.

The proposed condo tower would rank among the tallest planned for Austin. The size of the residential units have not been finalized nor has their cost. Condo residents would have access to hotel amenities, including a spa, a fitness center and an outdoor rooftop pool

The hotel would include a bar, board rooms, a ballroom, an outdoor sculpture garden and museum galleries. The modern art museum will be free to the public and have rotating exhibits which will showcase works from emerging and internationally known artists.
